TENAFLY, N.J. -- Judith Giordano, manager of the Weichert Realtors' Tenafly office, announced her office recently joined forces with Bergen County’s United Way to sponsor a townwide campaign to furnish apartments and a community room of the new Very Special Homes initiative.
The project will provide housing for those with developmental disabilities within Tenafly.
The new construction project on Tenafly Road includes six apartments and a community room that will house 10 tenants beginning in November.
Not only will the project help individuals with special needs by providing them a place to live, but it also will help residents perform their day-to-day responsibilities and activities independently, Weichert said.
A gift registry for donation furnishings can be found at www.tenafly.veryspecialhomes.org.
“Our experienced sales associate, Wendy Dessanti, brought the project to my attention and introduced us to 33-year Tenafly resident Cynthia Massarsky, who is coordinating the campaign,” said Giordano.
“In line with the Weichert culture, we are grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference," she said. "We chose to work with Bergen County’s United Way because we feel they play an essential role in addressing the local needs of our community and do so much to give back to those who need it most.”
