HARRINGTON PARK, N.J. – The Community Church is to begin a once-a-month Sunday evening service with “a bit more edge,” according to a statement from the church.

The first evening service is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18, at the church building at 1 Spring St., according to the church.

Dave Pettigrew, who has performed across the northeast and has opened for a number of well-known contemporary Christian artists, will provide the music with his band, according to the church.

Sermons at the evening services will be based on those given earlier in the day, but will not be “listening-only” or “passive,” according to the church, which said that those in attendance will have an opportunity to talk about issues raised in the Scripture lesson.

The evening services are also expected to be more “visually oriented” than others, meaning those planning the evening services intend to use screens to “generate some thinking around what the Bible is saying.”

The Sunday evening services are scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. on the third Sunday or each month moving forward.
