CLOSTER, N. J. -- Mayor John Glidden declared Jan. 4 as "Arthur Dolson Day" to recognize the contributions of two-term councilman Arthur Dolson, who lost his re-election bid in November.

During a recent reorganization meeting, Glidden recognized Dolson for his service, which included overseeing the public safety, finance and technology committees. Dolson, a corporate accountant, also is credited for using his background to help with budgeting in Closter, which in the last six years had an average 2.6-percent increase in taxes, officials said.

He also was council president in 2015. Prior to the last two terms on the council, Dolson served on the council from 1992-94.
