Tenafly brothers named in 13-count indictment for pot, pills, cocaine, cash

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Two Tenafly brothers were named in a 13-count indictment charging them with having 3½ pounds of marijuana, four ounces of cocaine, 40 prescription pills and $15,820 in illegal proceeds.

Four departments led by Tenafly police concluded a several-month investigation last November by arresting Keith Santoli — who they said was carrying more than an ounce of cocaine — and Jacob Santoli, who they said was about to drive off from his home with an extra-large duffel bag filled with six backpacks, each containing drugs ranging from pot to pills to cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia.

The indictment accuses Jacob Santoli of 10 offenses — three each of having cocaine, marijuana and alprazolam for sale, as well as a single count in connection with the cash, “which a reasonable person would believe to be derived from criminal activity.”

One set of possession charges accuses him of having all three drugs at or near Bergenfield High School.

Keith Santoli faces three cocaine possession charges, including for having it at or near Maugham Elementary School.

“Without the investigative teamwork of several agencies and the actions of quick-thinking of detectives, these drugs may have already been sold across Bergen County,” Tenafly Detective Capt. Michael deMoncada told CLIFFVIEW PILOT after the arrests.

“Although we do not believe these two drug dealers were specifically targeting school-aged children, it should be noted that they were both conducting these activities within relatively close proximity to two public schools,” he added. “We are grateful that our officers could get these drugs off of the street before they did any harm.”

Dumont, Cresskill and Bergenfield police, along with agents from the DEA, participated in the case.

The brothers posted $40,000 bail each within hours of the Nov. 14 arrests.
