Closter police took Aimee Gonzalez into custody last November after she tried using a stolen ID at a local Verizon store, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.
Grewal's White Collar Crimes Unit teamed up with borough police to charge four more alleged members of the ring, which they said operated in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Two of them were taken into custody -- Francisco Gonzalez, 23, and Carmen Anglero, 34, both of the Bronx.
Both Gonzalezes were arrested in New York and charged as fugitives from justice pending extradition hearings. Angleo was being held in the Montgomery County Jail in Pennsylvania, where a copy of her warrant was submitted as a detainer.
Two others remained fugitives on Monday, Grewal said: Carlos Montero and Eury Garcia Sosa, both 31, also of the Bronx.
All were charged with conspiracy to traffic in another's personal identification.
"Each of them played significant and varied roles in the criminal organization," Grewal said.
According to the prosecutor, Aimee Gonzalez and Anglero "impersonated victims and completed the illicit purchases," the prosecutor said.
"Eury Garcia Sosa drove the illicit buyers to and from the Verizon Stores and was complicit in the identity theft and purchases," he added. "Carlos Montero acted as an organizer and supplied the illicit buyers with the stolen identifications. Francisco Gonzalez supplied the group with forged and fraudulent identification documents, including forged driver’s licenses and secondary forms of identification."
