Mark Cordes, 61, Paramus Resident

PARAMUS, N.J. -- Mark Cordes, of Paramus, died on Saturday, March 18. He was 61.

Before he retired, Cordes was a mechanic for NJ Transit, in Oradell. He was a parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, in River Edge. 

"An avid Yankee and Oakland Raiders fan," information from the funeral home noted, he was "a true lover of rock 'n' roll."

He is survived by his wife, Jo-Ann (Martinez) Cordes; siblings Gary Cordes and his wife Laura, and Kathy Lacey and her husband James; brothers- and sisters-in-law Richard Martinez, Richard Chimento, Gloria Ropero and Betty Martinez; and nieces and nephews Jennifer Suckow, Christopher Cordes, Suzy Jones, David and Thomas Martinez, Mackenzie Bruckler, and Alexandra Ferro.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, March 24, at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Ave., in Paramus. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
