For over two decades, Stratford has celebrated autumn with the event.
The festivities last weekend offered something fun for all ages, including a children's costume parade with prizes, DJ music, games, crafts, face painting, refreshments, a pie-baking contest, a scarecrow judging contest, four moon-bounces, horse-drawn hayrides, and much more.
There were tours of the Model Train Museum and Observatory. The Bunnell High School STAGE theater group performed skits, and costumed actors from the Players at Putney Gardens strolled the grounds.
A live animal experience held for the first time this year provided a hands-on, entertaining and educational experience for kids.
A falcon show by Christine's Critters was up first, followed by Animal Embassy, presenting Spooktacular Animal Adventure, and ending with an interactive area, including an all-day petting zoo by Bay Brook Rescue.
The Boothe Memorial Park is a 32-acre site in the north end of Stratford High above the Housatonic River. The estate was home to the Boothe family for several generations and was willed it to the town in 1949.
The Friends of Boothe Park is a nonprofit organization whose volunteers maintain the museums, artifacts, genealogy library, and prize-winning rose gardens and conduct tours and school programs.
"We are only successful because of the generosity of our donors, and hundreds of volunteers and civic groups," says Stephanie Philips, chairwoman of the Boothe Memorial Park Commission.
