CRESSKILL, N.J. -- Participants and organizers alike are limbering up for the Cresskill 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run this fall to benefit borough schools.
The first 300 registrants for the Oct. 16 "Educating the Future" event get t-shirts.
There will be awards for the top three male and female finishers, as well as for the top 3 finishers under 10 years old.
There will also be a deejay and post-race/run refreshments.
Schedule
- 8 AM – Check-In Begins
- 9 AM – 5K Run Start
- 10:30 AM – Fun Run
- 10:45 AM – Awards
Registration is $20 plus a sign-up free for the 5K (free for the fun run), increasing to $25 plus the fee on Sept. 1. Registration ends Oct. 14.
There are also special training clinics for students to prepare them for the 5K. They cost $95 each plus a sign-up fee -- and include the entry fee. Registration ends Sept. 21.
Training the youngsters will be:
Julie Balay, a registered dietitian and board certified sports dietitian who had own coaching and training business in New York City. She has run the Boston and New York City marathons and four Ironman Triathlons;
Josh Zitomer, a trainer to the stars, working and traveling with, among others, Alicia Keys, Amy Schumer, Adam Levine and Maroon 5. He's had clients ranging in age from 20-70, taken novice runners to their first marathon and marathoners to their first triathlon.
All proceeds go to Cresskill High School, Cresskill Middle School, Bryan School, and Merritt Memorial School.
