CRESSKILL, N.J. -- There will be a life after death discussion on Oct. 22 from 7 - 8 p.m. at the Cresskill Public Library, 53 Union Ave.

This meeting is free of charge and open to the public.

Participants are invited to share their own personal experiences.

The Center for the Study of Living Myth (CSLM) is dedicated to exploring first-hand personal accounts, anecdotal tales, archived information and perspectives regarding atypical but well documented phenomena that are, and have been, part of the human experience throughout recorded history.

The CSLM does not promote any particular worldview or interpretation of the material being studied.

It is not interested in 'proving' the 'reality' or 'unreality' of these phenomena either.

Whatever the 'real truth' about the experiences being explored may be, the tales (living myths) people tell about them are often thought provoking, sometimes personally or socially transformative, and affect real human lives.

Thus, they are definitely worthy of exploration.

These are the goals of the CSLM:

  • Form a fellowship of individuals representing various points of view to effectively preserve and study living local mythology, including accounts of the paranormal, anomalous animal sightings, unique entity encounters and UFOs.
  • Provide a safe environment conducive to the sharing of personal accounts and anecdotal tales.
  • Provide an environment conducive to the study of information relevant to its mission and encourage the free exchange of ideas.
  • Act as an informational resource on regional folklore and urban legends to the local residents and other interested parties.
  • Perform outreach and networking as needed to inform people of its mission, interest people in their endeavors and provide easy access to their community.
