The shop, currently at 15 Catoonah St., will be moving into a 5,000-square-foot space at 21 Governor St.

"We have run out of storage space. We also want to provide easier parking for drop-off donations," said Mary Ellen Loncto, a Ridgefield resident and president of the shop.

"We are all very excited about the move. Since we will have more room, we can put more merchandise out. It will be much easier to find what you are looking for," she said.

The new site was used as a temporary home for the Ridgefield Library during renovations. Before that, it was Balducci’s and Hay Day grocery stores.

The shop has been renting from the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association since 1960, according to Loncto.

The Ridgefield Thrift Shop sells clothing for adults and children, as well as books, housewares, sporting goods, toys and games.

"You can always find the little odd thing that you didn't know you were looking for here," Loncto said of the shop, which is run by 52 volunteers.
