The stadium will host a first-round match June 12, a quarterfinal match June 17 and the final game June 26.
The once-in-a-lifetime soccer event, which honors 100 years of the Copa America tournament, will feature some of the world’s best teams and players competing from June 3-26 in the United States.
Other cities throughout the country will be hosting games in the international tournament, including Seattle, Santa Clara and Chicago.
A host committee already has been formed to handle the MetLife aspect of the tournament, and the committee is made up of representatives from New Jersey and New York City. The committee includes representatives from the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, Meadowlands Regional Chamber, MetLife Stadium, New York Jets, NYC & Co., and others.
The committee will be co-chaired by Wayne Hasenbalg, NJSEA president and CEO, and Fred Dixon, NYC & Company president and CEO.
"We look forward to welcoming the teams and their fans from across the globe as they celebrate this historic event," Hasenbalg said.
