InsideGov recently ranked the presidents of the United States by IQ score and formulated a list of the 27-smartest men to have the nation’s highest office. Clinton ranked No. 4 on the list with a 148.8 IQ. The nation’s 42nd President ranks among some esteemed company on the list behind only John F. Kennedy (150.7 IQ), Thomas Jefferson (153.8) and John Quincy Adams (168.8).

Clinton received a law degree from Yale and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa while studying at Georgetown University. He also focused on philosophy, politics and economics as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University.

As InsideGov explains, a high IQ doesn’t always translate into success, but it does paint a unique picture of history. The group analyzed data collected by UC Davis professor Dean Simonton, whose 2006 study utilized historiometric methods, as well as information from the former presidents' biographies and writings to estimate IQ scores.
