Vincent A Mesiano, 87, Of Fairview

FAIRVIEW, N.J. -- Vincent A Mesiano, 87, of Fairview, died Oct. 25.

He was born in New York City and he resided in Fairview for 62 years.

He was a proud Korean War veteran who bled Red, White and Blue, served in Korea from 1951-53. When he returned from Korea, he married his sweetheart, Marie Ardito, and started their family.

At the same time, he went to work for Record Lace Embroidery Company as a shop foreman. Showing his leadership, he quickly rose to plant manager and eventually purchased the company and added the Swiss Novelty Lace and Embroidery Corp. In 1968, he joined the Schiffli Lace and Embroidery Manufacturers Association and had many offices, including two stints as president. He was voted the “Man of the Year Award” in 1976.

Mesiano was an active member of the American Legion and VFW and was passionate about the USA and the U.S. Army. He loved to travel and took many trips abroad to view the art work of Italy and France. He also loved his Harley Davidson and frequently hit the road wandering the countryside of New Yor, New Jersey and New England, as well as his annual trip to the Americade in Lake George, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Mesiano; children, Patricia Mesiano and Mike Delucia, Stephen Mesiano and his wife Donna, David Mesiano and his wife Sandi, James Mesiano and Toni-Lynn Borowski; grandchildren, Matthew Mesiano, Stephen Mesiano and his fiance' Michelle Katz, Brittany Thune and her husband Chad Thune, Gina Mesiano and her fiance' Daniel Garcia and Joseph Mesiano; and brother, Sal Mesiano and his wife Mary.

He was predeceased by his sister, Lucy Ritter; and brother, Joe Mesiano.

Friends and family can gather from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at A.K. Macagna Funeral Home, 495 Anderson Ave., Cliffside Park. A funeral service will be conducted at noon Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Regional Cancer Center at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck.
