WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Thomas Fernandes of Washington Township passed away Sept. 14. He was 84.
Born in the India village of Aldona, Goa to the late Joaquim and Maria in 1931, Fernandes received his Juris Doctor degree from New York University. He was a self-employed attorney in Mineola and a member of the New York Bar Association. Fernandes also spent time as an assistant to the New York Attorney General.
He is survived by Beatrice (nee Zink) Fernandes; son Dr. Bruce J. Fernandes and his wife Dr. Maria Labombarda-Fernandes of Paramus; siblings Neri Fernandes, Olinda Carvalho and Basilia D’Souza; and grandchildren Tommaso, Gaetano, Antonio and Silvio.
