The issue: The FBI wants Apple to bypass the iPhone’s auto-erase mechanism and has a court order to strengthen its claim, Apple refuses to do so, claiming the software could works as a master key to any iPhone, said Statistica.

And while Apple’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook is defending the company's stance, saying the government's demands could set a dangerous precedent for the safety of personal data, and many tech giants are standing behind the company, the American people are supporting the FBI on the issue, added Statistica.

According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, 51 percent of adults in the U.S. think that Apple should unlock the phone, while 38 percent think that Apple is right not to cooperate.
