Marriage Norms Shift To More Equality, Studies Say

When it comes to marriage today, more of us are marrying our fellow equals, reflecting a deep change in society, and in families, according to the New York Times.

According to social scientists, this shift also is causing the country to become segregated by class. The main driving force behind the change is women's increasing education so they can support themselves, new gender roles and people marrying those more like themselves, said the New York Times. The result is a country more segregated by class, said the New York Times.
