"There is a four-hour parking limit within the parking lot between River Road and Old River Road and a two-hour parking limit for all parallel and perpendicular parking off of Old River Road," officials said in a statement. "Parking meter kiosks are available in front of YogArt, Mangia Restaurant, and Teeter Totter Art Studio."
The meters were installed the last week of June on the street and inside the municipal parking lot in front of the Infinity Apartments on Old River Road, Borough Administrator Greg Franz confirmed at the time.
The "increase in development and attraction from out-of-towners using the area as a commuter lot" made the move necessary, Franz told Daily Voice. "That was never never the intent."
The lot was created nearly 20 years ago when River Road was realigned, the borough administrator said.
Businesses requested parking to entice visitors, he added.
"With the blessing of the [current] property and business owners, we are going to install parking meters to create the opportunity to park and patronize the businesses and create turnover because there will be a time limit," Franz said.
The borough will provide notification before beginning enforcement, which will be handled by newly hired special officers, Franz said.
Parking spaces have already been painted and assigned numbers.
