More than $2,600 had been raised as of Sunday afternoon on a GoFundMe page established by Rita Altounjian to help 4-week-old Peter Chamoun.
The baby was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a life threatening heart condition.
His mother, Diana Chamous, felt pain shortly before her son's Dec. 23 birth — which led to the diagnosis.
“Usually this defect - they usually don’t find out until the baby is born, and babies usually end up dying,” said the 20-year-old Montclair State University student.
The baby — who is sedated — already underwent his first surgery to increase blood flow and is scheduled for another next months, Altounjian said.
“My uncle Elias tries to stay positive - I know it is hard for people to give at this time, but I have to do what I have to do to help," said Altounjian, citing the conflict in Lebanon.
"I sent (the website link) to family across the country — to anyone who can help out and donate.”
