The Girls Scouts of Northern New Jersey and Ford Motor Company are teaming up to introduce girls to the excitement of car design and racing.
The Girls’ Fast Track Races will provide girls a hands-on experience with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) concepts, like engineering and design on Saturday, Nov. 12, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Teaneck Armory.
Girls will get tips and tricks on turning blocks of pinewood into blazing fast cars. As part of the registration, Brownies and Juniors will receive a pinewood car kit for girls to assemble and race in an all-Girl Scout competition.
With offices in Paramus and Paterson, the Girl Scouts’ mission is to build girls’ confidence and provide opportunities to learn and grow. In keeping with the organization’s commitment, girls will gain practical skills and to learn by doing.
Kits will be mailed to each registered Girl Scout’s home within two weeks of registration. Registration deadline is Nov. 1. The fee is $10 per girl, and includes an official car kit and fun patch.
