Ex-South Jersey Police Sgt. Admits Sexual Relationship With Young Girl: Prosecutor

An ex-sergeant from the Ocean City Police Department has admitted having a sexual relationship with a young girl, authorities said.

Tyrone Rolls, a 51-year-old resident of Marmora, pleaded guilty on Thursday, March 2, to the charge of child endangerment, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland.

Rolls was initially charged on April 7, 2021, and then indicted on Nov. 16, 2021, as result of an investigation conducted by Detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

The guilty plea by Rolls includes a minimum five-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison along with Rolls forfeiting all future public employment.

Rolls will be sentenced on May 19.
