Michael Disantis of Maple Shade was charged with robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault with a firearm, unlawful possession of a shotgun and other weapons offenses, Maple Shade Police Chief Christopher Fletcher said.

He faces additional charges in an earlier carjacking, the chief said.

On Wednesday May 24, at 6:04 p.m., Maple Shade police were dispatched to 100 Fox Meadow Drive for a reported motor vehicle theft, he said.

The victim reported that he was an Uber driver who picked up a man in the Tacony section of Philadelphia and was to take him to 100 Fox Meadow Drive in Maple Shade.

The victim stated that upon reaching 100 Fox Meadow Drive the man pointed a handgun at him, the chief said.

He then demanded that the victim turn over his Bulova wrist watch and exit the 2020 Honda Accord.

The suspect took control of the Honda Accord and left the area, Fletcher said.

Disantis was a suspect of an earlier carjacking that occurred in Maple Shade around 12:45 a.m. that day.

The victim’s stolen Honda Accord was located in the complex of 115 East Kings Highway where Disantis resides, Fletcher said.

Additional investigative leads resulted in charges being issued against Disantis for the later carjacking, the chief said.

During a warranted search on Disantis' residence, police found a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun with hollow point bullets a sawed off Boito double barrel shotgun, as well as a wallet and wrist watch belonging to the second carjacking victim, Fletcher said.

Disantis was being held in Burlington County Jail.
