Michael D. Giffing is accused of assaulting his mom, Dorothy Giffing, around 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, West Chester police said.
Authorities responded to the home on the 300 Block of W. Ashbridge Street on reports of an unconscious person who had fallen, police said. While en route , the call was upgraded to a possible cardiac arrest.
The injuries that Dorothy suffered were not consistent with a fall, authorities said. She was taken to Chester County Hospital.
Meanwhile, Michael was charged with simple assault, attempt to commit murder, recklessly endangering another person and more. He was placed in custody and taken to the police station, processed, and then taken to Chester County Prison for arraignment. A preliminary hearing is pending at District Court.
