Florida Driver, 64, Killed After Car Bursts Into Flames In Mercer County

A car burst into flames killing a driver from Florida on Interstate-295 in Mercer County on Wednesday, authorities said.

Fevzi Denker, 64, of West Palm Beach, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sgt. Philip Curry, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police.

No one else was in the Toyota Corolla when it caught fire at 5:55 p.m., Curry said.

The motorist was traveling north near the Exit 60 ramp to I-195 in Hamilton Township, Curry said.

After catching fire, the Toyota ran off the highway, striking a concrete barrier, Curry said.

The ramp was closed for approximately three hours, he said.

No other vehicles were involved

The cause of the car fire remains under investigation.
