Tenafly police and firefighters responded to 12 Cameron Road on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 11:44 a.m., where they found a single-family home engulfed in flames, according to Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Deputy Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer.
A female victim managed to escape before first responders arrived, but she suffered smoke inhalation and severe burns, officials said. She was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment, authorities said.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Arson Squad was called in to investigate alongside the Tenafly Police Department and the Arson Task Force, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released further details. More information will be provided as it becomes available, officials said.
