Wayne police seized 179 Oxycodone pills, a bag of cocaine and $832 in suspected drug proceeds from a Queens driver who’d been parked at the Wendy’s on Route 46 nearly two hours before it opened.
Officers Ardian Cela and Gerard Venezia had noticed the 2016 Mazda SUV while responding to another incident about an hour earlier, Detective Capt. Laurence Martin said.
Drug paraphernalia in plain view raised their suspicions, prompting a search that turned up the drugs and cash, Martin said.
The driver, 44-year-old Edward Cahill, was released pending court action on various drug offenses, under New Jersey’s 2017 bail reform law, the captain said.
An unidentified passenger was released without charges.
