That's because he "got in the water, got out, went home and went to work," according to Acting Deputy Chief Erik Pettaway.
Massachusetts State Police said they responded to a call from a person saying they saw two men fighting on Beades Bridge on Morrissey Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. Upon arrival, one of the men jumped into the water.
After searching for several hours, State Police determined the man who jumped apparently swam to shore at Malibu Beach and went to his job in Norwell. Once confirmed the man was at work, all units cleared the scene, police said.
Authorities also determined both men, ages 34 and 24, live in Dorchester. Police discovered and were reportedly searching a black 2008 Ford Crown Victoria left at the scene believed to have been occupied by the men earlier that night, police added.
The search, involving Boston Fire, Massachusetts State Police and the US Coast Guard, only allowed one lane of traffic to get by on I-93 north, WBZ's Anna Meiler reported.
While Pettaway was happy "no one was hurt," it did make for a headache for morning commuters. The investigation is ongoing.
