Born and raised in Garfield for 22 years, Garippa lived in Italy for seven years and Mountainside for 32 years before settling in Milford 20 years ago. He was a pastor, and his most recent pastorate was at the Valley Bible Fellowship in Milford.
He is survived by his wife, Terri (Ruberti) Garippa, and her sons Samuel, Peter and Michael; children Matthew Garippa and Jennifer Garippa; grandchildren Matthew and Christian; and siblings Robert Garippa, Rachel Garippa, Dorothy Garippa, Lydia Mastroberti, Esther DeFranco and Dolores Wood.
Garippa was predeceased by his siblings, Mary, Elizabeth, Mathilda, Hannah, Ruth and David.
Visiting hours will be from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, June 13, at Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., in Garfield. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Hawthorne Gospel Church. Interment will be at Crest Haven Cemetery, in Clifton.
