RIDGEWOOD, N.J. – Joan Hillman (née Kearney) died Monday, Nov. 30.
She was a member of the Junior Women's Club of Hawthorne, a Girl Scout leader and board of directors member, a volunteer at Valley Hospital, an avid bird watcher and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood, where she was a deacon.
Hillman was the beloved mother of Stacy Theilmeier and her husband David; JoAnn Anderika and her husband Chuck; Dwight Scala and his wife Julie; and the late Rusty Scala; the devoted grandmother of Sydney, Chloe, Stefan, Heather, Jacob and Rachel; great-grandmother of seven; and great-great-grandmother of one.
Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 S. Farview Ave., Paramus. The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, followed by a 10 a.m. service at the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood, 722 E. Ridgewood Ave. Interment will be at Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood.
