The victim parked in a nearby lot and walked to a stretch of tracks between West Central Avenue and Church Street, where he was struck at 8:18 a.m. by a southbound CSX freight train, Capt. Mustafa Rabboh said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, the captain said.
"Our condolences go out to the family," Rabboh said.
"For anyone who’s suffering through difficult times and contemplating suicide, please reach out to someone," he added. "There is help available by calling the NJ Hopeline at 1-855-654-6735."
