The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said nearly 490,000 pounds of sausage and bacon ready-to-eat breakfast sandwiches made by Hearthside Food Solutions, LLC have been recalled due to misbranding and the presence of sesame, which was not listed on product labels.
Sesame is a known allergen and can cause serious reactions in sensitive individuals.
The recall, announced Wednesday, April 2, involves two types of “LETTIERI’S FOOD TO GO” French toast sandwiches:
- • Sausage, Egg & Cheese (8.35 oz.)
- • Bacon, Egg & Cheese (7.3 oz.)
The recalled items were produced between April 1, 2023, and March 25, 2025, and shipped to Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) locations across the country. The sandwiches bear the establishment number “EST. V4907” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
FSIS said the issue was discovered after the company realized the French toast component used sesame flour, which was not disclosed in the ingredient list. There have been no confirmed reports of allergic reactions, but consumers are urged not to eat the sandwiches.
Products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
