DUMONT, N.J. -- A Monday ruling by Superior Court Judge William Meehan will let the development of the D'Angelo Farms property and the old Dumont Borough Hall proceed, according to The Record.
Meehan ruled that a settlement between the borough and developer Landmark Dumont is fair, in providing affordable housing, The Record has reported. Landmark will build 124 market-rate units, 18 affordable units and office space -- as well as do certain demolition, remediation and sewer-upgrade work.
The process has been divisive, with many community members speaking out in opposition of the development, including the group Families Advocating a Reasonable Masterplan in Dumont. In a Tuesday statement, the group said the ruling "ignores the tremendous burden that this settlement will place on our residents, pushing many of them into the protected class that cannot afford housing in Bergen County," The Record reported.
