A 34 year-old man from South Jersey has been identified as the victim shot and killed in a shooting in Atlantic City early Sunday.

Atlantic City police officers responded to a 911 call at Kentucky and Atlantic avenues about 1 a.m. on Sunday and found Anthony Crews of Chesilhurst with multiple gunshot wounds, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said.

Police and EMTs tried to revive Crews, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. An autopsy by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death as gun shot wounds.

This is an active ongoing investigation by the ACPO Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department.

Tyner did not release any details about possible suspects or motive in the shooting.

Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is urged to call the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office at 609-909-7800 or go to the Prosecutor’s Office Web site at http://www.acpo.org/tips.html and provide information by filling out the form anonymously on the Submit a Tip page.
