Man, 39, Dies In South Jersey Fire, 2nd Person Escapes

Authorities have identified a 39-year-old man killed in a Salem County fire.

The deceased was identified as Andres Gutierrez, of Oldmans Township, according to New Jersey State Police.

The fire broke out at 12:33 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Porch Farms, Pennsville-Pedricktown Road in Oldmans Township, State Police said. 

Based on the preliminary investigation, a residential structure on the property caught fire resulting in the death of an occupant inside a bedroom. 

Several State Fire Marshals arrived and conducted an investigation but the cause of the fire is still undetermined at this time. 

There was one additional occupant in the residence at the time who was able to escape the fire and refused medical attention, according to Sgt. Philip Curry, a State Police spokesman.

“The fire is under investigation and there are no additional details available at this time,” Curry said.
