Officer Guzman was expected to arrive at the Academy and be sworn in as one of the newest brothers from the 166th Baltimore County Police Department, according to a GoFundMe started to support Guzman's family.

"Unfortunately, this morning his house burned down, along with most of his equipment, personal possessions, and household goods", stated fundraiser organizer Joseph Abruscato.

Officer Guzman was in the process of relocating his wife and children from New York to Baltimore County when the fire erupted.

So far, the fundraiser has raised over $5,000 in one day.
