Albert Sergio Jr., 59, of Souderton, is accused of sexually assaulting a minor female relative at knife-point after she got out of the shower on Friday, April 25, 2025, according to affidavits of probable cause obtained by Daily Voice on Tuesday, April 29.
Investigators said the victim encountered Sergio standing naked in the hallway of a West Walnut Street home, armed with a knife. She screamed and attempted to barricade herself in the bathroom, but Sergio allegedly kicked the door three times until it broke open.
He then forced her into a bedroom, where he brandished the knife and made repeated threats, police said. The victim told Sergio she was scared and pleaded with him to put the knife down, stating that she would not have sex with him. When she tried to escape by carrying the knife toward the kitchen, Sergio allegedly grabbed her from behind, causing them both to fall down the stairs. He then allegedly forced her hand onto his genitals.
The girl fled the home and flagged down workers in a North Penn Water Authority truck, who helped her call police. A search of the home later found a broken bathroom door frame, a brass bolt cover on the floor, and a large carving knife with a blood-spotted tissue on a bedroom dresser.
Around 11 p.m. that same night, authorities said Sergio allegedly broke into another home on East Chestnut Street by smashing a window. The residents screamed, causing him to flee, but they were able to identify him to investigators.
Police said Sergio spent more than 12 hours hiding in the woods near Hilltown Township, Bucks County. K9 teams tracked him down early on Saturday morning, April 26, leading to his arrest.
Sergio is charged with felony rape by forcible compulsion, felony rape by threat of forcible compulsion, felony sexual assault, misdemeanor indecent assault by forcible compulsion, misdemeanor terroristic threats, misdemeanor false imprisonment, misdemeanor simple assault, and misdemeanor possession of an instrument of crime. He also faces felony burglary, misdemeanor criminal mischief, and misdemeanor defiant trespass charges in connection with the break-in.
He remains held in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility’s medical block on $99,000 bail for the assault case and $10,000 bail for the burglary case. His preliminary hearings are scheduled for Wednesday, May 7.
Sergio, who has worked for Cheltenham Township for 11 years inspecting nearly 50 buildings monthly, remains listed on the township’s website. Officials declined to comment on his current employment status following his arrest.
