A woman was killed overnight in Maryland after being struck by a passing car, the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office confirmed. Shortly before p.m. on Friday night, deputies found Hollywood Tammy Lynn Boyle, 61 in the southbound lane of the 23000 block of Three Notch Road, dead after being struck by a 51-year-old driver from Lusby, authorities say. A 37-year-old man will spend more than a decade in prison and must register as a sex offender for life in Maryland for sexually abusing a family member in Calvert County, the state's attorney announced. Lusby resident Ryan Christopher Carpenter has been sentenced to 14 years in prison following his conviction of second-degree rape involving his stepdaughter. Garage Fire Causes $50K In Damage To Maryland Home
Fast-acting firefighters in Maryland were able to contain an electrical fire that broke out in a Calvert County garage. Shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, a fire was reported by a Park Chesapeake Drive homeowner in Lusby, prompting a response from the Solomons Volunteer Fire Department. A crew of 40 firefighters worked for approximately 20 minutes to knock down the flames, which originated from the exterior of the dwelling, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
