A roaring blaze tore through a Maryland home over Memorial Day weekend, gutting a beloved jewelry studio and leaving artist Shana Kroiz to rebuild her life, her business—and decades' worth of creative tools—from the ashes.
The fire broke out at Kroiz’s residence, where her jewelry studio was also based.
According to Kroiz, her husband woke up in time to save himself, their son, and their dog, Chester. The home, however, was destroyed.

A Maryland mother of three has died after suffering catastrophic injuries in a devastating house fire in Jessup last week, authorities confirmed.
Stephanie Jones, 51, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, June 14, days after she was pulled from a burning home with third-degree burns over 75 percent of her body, Howard County Police announced on Wednesday, June 18.

A suspect is in custody after an actor who appeared on the iconic animated TV show King of the Hill was shot and killed.
Jonathan Joss and a former neighbor were involved in the incident in San Antonio, Texas on Sunday night, June 1.
San Antonio Police said officers responded at around 7 p.m. and discovered the 59-year-old Joss near the road after he was shot multiple times, according to ABC affiliate KSAT in San Antonio, noting he was pronounced dead at the scene.
