Woman Killed In Maryland Hit-Run Crash; Police Seek White Work Van (Updated)

New details have been released by the Prince George's County Police Department after a 37-year-old woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver over the weekend.

Temple Hills resident Portia Newton has been identified by investigators as the person who was found in the roadway on Saturday night.

According to police, at around 8:50 p.m. on Nov. 16, officers were called to the 4400 block of Saint Barnabas Road, where they found Newton suffering from traumatic injuries.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say that a white work van - either a GMC Savanna or Chevy Express - was heading north on Saint Barnabas Road near Leisure Drive when they struck Newton and fled the scene.

The fatal hit-and-run remains under investigation.
