On Thursday, Oct. 22, at around 6 a.m., Sterling firefighters, as well as Sterling and Massachusetts State police, responded to a report of a flipped car on the highway in Sterling.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found a yellow sedan smashed up and tangled in a grove of young trees down a steep embankment.

It took emergency responders about 10 minutes, but they were able to extract the driver through the sunroof. The driver was transported to a Worcester hospital to receive treatment to injuries, fighters said.

It was a bit of deja vu as firefighters had responded to a rollover car accident on I-190 on Monday, Oct. 19. In that incident, emergency personnel responded to a report of a 30-foot flatbed truck carrying several tons of slate that had tumbled down an embankment. The driver was saved in that instance, too.
