Attempted Kidnapper Foiled By Child He Tried To Abduct In Boylston: Police

A Boylston man is being held on a $15,000 bail after trying to abduct a child, authorities said.

Police responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping in the area of Mill Road around 3:33 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, Boylston Police said on Facebook. 

Upon arrival, officers learned that a male tried to lure a child into his home. When the child refused, the man chased them down the street, according to police. 

On Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at approximately 3:33PM, Boylston Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Mill Road for the report of an attempted kidnapping. Responding officers were informed that a male party attempted to lure a juvenile into his home. After the juvenile refused to enter the home the male suspect chased the juvenile down the road. 

The child then helped positively identify the suspect at 59-year-old David Shays, of Boylston, police said. He was arrested and charged accordingly.
