The Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement (CINRET) West Team launched an investigation into a Hampden County heroin distribution operation earlier this year, officials said, following complaints from the community about potential drug distribution.

During that investigation, police said that detectives identified a Holyoke residence where suspect Yaileen Santiago-Cosme lived, as a point of distribution.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday, April 12, investigators executed a search warrant at Santiago-Cosme’s residence, which led to the seizure of 29 “half packs” of heroin with an approximate gross weight of 58 grams, powder, and 26 grams crack cocaine, two loaded magazines and numerous rounds of ammunition.

The CINRET team was joined by the Hampden County Narcotics Task Force, FBI Gang Task Force, HSI Springfield, DEA Springfield, Holyoke Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Easthampton Police Department, Westfield Police Department, Holyoke Police Department, and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department in executing the search warrant.

Santiago-Cosme, 29, was arrested without incident and transported to the Holyoke Police Department, where she was charged with trafficking between 36 and 100 grams of heroin, trafficking between 36 and 100 grams of cocaine, and possession of ammunition without FID.

Following her arrest, Santiago-Cosme was released and scheduled to appear in court at a later date to respond to the charges.
