"Our administration first filed legislation to legalize sports wagering in the Commonwealth several years ago, and I am glad to be able to sign this bill into law today," Baker said in a statement. "We appreciate the dedication and compromise that the Legislature demonstrated on this issue, and we look forward to supporting the work of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission on the responsible implementation of the law over the next several months."

You must be 21 years old to place a bet in Massachusetts. The state will take a 15 percent tax on all in-person wagers and 20 percent on online bets. Gamblers won't be able to put money down on any in-state college teams unless they are in an NCAA tournament.
State legislators reached a last-minute deal earlier this month after years of deadlock.
The measure passed in the House by a vote of 151-2, and the Senate passed it 36-4, according to NBC10's Kirsten Galvin.
