Massachusetts Pony 'Stewie Vuitton' Could Be Next Cadbury ... Bunny?

Li'l Sebastian ain't got nothing on Stewie Vuitton, a 23-inch-tall rescue pony whose pastel dreams of being voted Cadbury Bunny of 2023 are just a hoof print away.

Stewie Vuitton made an official video submission to the competition, complete with bunny ears, decor, and Cadbury eggs, but he usually forgoes the set dressing and spends his time outside.

When not busy at his day job providing equine therapy to adults and children of all ages and needs, Stewie Vuitton has been preparing for his campaign to win the Cadbury Bunny Tryouts 2023 Contest.

Stewie Vuitton sailed through the first phase of the contest and is now a finalist, along with dogs, a cat, a duck, a chinchilla, a sheep, and even a beaver. The lucky critter who lands the win will get the honor of being in a Cadbury commercial, a cash prize of $5,000, and another $5,000 donated to the winner's choice of rescue pet shelter.

This year's theme for the Cadbury Bunny Tryouts contest is 'Rescue Pets Edition,' making it the perfect entry year for Stewie Vuitton, who was rescued from an auction by Lifting Spirits Miniature Therapy Horses.

Lifting Spirits is a 501c3 organization that rescues animals and provides equine therapy to humans. It is the only miniature horse therapy group in Massachusetts and its ponies visit more than 100 facilities across New England.

“This is an amazing opportunity for our local rescue to educate the public on issues related to dwarfism and the many challenges that this condition presents to horses and their caregivers,” said Lifting Spirits founder and president, Toni Hadad.

Stewie Vuitton was bred to be tiny, but being a pony with dwarfism comes with serious health implications that breeders choose to ignore, according to Lifting Spirits.

Stewie Vuitton was suffering serious leg and hoof issues related to his dwarfism when he was rescued by Lifting Spirits, along with years of neglect. He has been receiving the medical pedicures and the other care he needs for more than a year, but he is still not completely healed.

"After seeing photos of his legs and hooves we knew we had to drive out and get him," Stewie Vuitton's biography on Lifting Spirits' website reads. "Stewie’s hooves had never been trimmed! He was covered in lice and his teeth had never been floated and he was a stallion."

After being rescued, the tiny pony received six months of training and now provides animal-assisted therapy to adults and children.

The now four-year-old palomino pinto is relying on online votes from fans to crown him the winner of Cadbury Tryouts. Voting ends on Tuesday, March 14, and the title of Cadbury "Bunny" will be announced on Tuesday, March 21.
