Woman Faces Charges After Fatal Crash In Western Mass

The driver allegedly involved in a deadly hit and run crash that killed a man in Western Massachusetts is facing several charges, including motor vehicle homicide.

The driver allegedly involved in a deadly hit and run crash that killed a man in Western Massachusetts is facing several charges, including motor vehicle homicide.

The crash took place in Hampden County around 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, on North Main Street in Palmer, said Sgt. David Burns, of the Palmer Police Department.

According to Burns, 33-year-old Nicole Matanes of Palmer was quickly located following the crash and has been charged with:

  • OUI/liquor
  • Negligent operation of a vehicle
  • Marked lanes violation
  • Leaving the scene of a deadly crash
  • Motor vehicle homicide
  • Speeding
  • Inspection sticker violation

The name of the victim has yet to be released.

Matanes is being held on a $50,000 bail. 

Her arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 1 in Palmer District Court.
