New Millionaire: Western Mass Man Wins Second-Chance Prize In Mass Lottery

The game is called "The Fastest Road to $1 Million," and for one Greenfield man, it was.

Ramiro Buenrostro, of Greenfield, won $1 million after his unlucky lottery ticket was chosen in the second-chance drawing.

Ramiro Buenrostro was one of four second-chance drawing winners in the Massachusetts State Lottery for that game.

Buenrostro decided to take the one-time lump sum payout of $650,000 before taxes, so his road is a little shorter than promised. But still not a bad trip, considering it started with a losing ticket.

Buenrostro submitted his unlucky ticket — among 675,000 others — for the chance it could be chosen as one of four randomly selected for a cash prize. There were four $1 million winners, four $100,000 winners, 14 people won $10,000, 137 got $1,000, and 1,561 got a $100 check.
