The MSPCA is seeking to find the perfect home for a 30-year-old miniature pony with Cushing's disease who has captured the hearts of their staff. An elderly miniature horse named Marty was surrendered by his owner in December 2022, the MSPCA-Angell said. He was underweight with dental problems that made it difficult for him to eat, but was nursed back to health at Nevins Farm in Methuen and is ready to find his forever home. Sugar Gliders Swoop Into Methuen, Receive More Than 800 Adoption Applications
An animal shelter got a rare influx of sugar gliders - and two hedgehogs - after their owner in Western Massachusetts surrendered them. Sugar gliders are exotic pets in the possum family, according to the MSPCA-Angell, the rescue organization that took in 33 of the critters on Thursday, March 30. A flood of interested adopters applied for the sugar gliders, and by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4 all 33 of the furry creatures had been spoken for. Animal Group Hoping To Conjure Up Holiday Miracle For Homeless Horse Merlin
The MSPCA is hoping to give the gift of a brand new home to an elderly horse this holiday season who is about to reach one year of homelessness. Merlin is an "American Paint" horse who was brought from Martha's Vineyard to Nevins Farm in Methuen in December 2021, the MSCPA said. A four-week-old kitten is expected to have surgery to help him get back into "pur-fect" shape. The kitten was found trapped inside the wheel of a truck in Lawrence on Friday, Nov. 4, the MSPCA-Angell reports. The agency says the frightened feline hid in the tire and got stuck.
