Kim Kardashian posted a photo of "The Embrace" statue on Boston Common to her Instagram story on Friday morning, Jan. 20.
The bronze sculpture, which commemorates Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, was unveiled last week. The style is based on a photo of the Kings hugging after Martin won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
"The 20-foot-tall, 25-foot-wide artwork differs from the singular, heroic form of many memorials to Dr. King and others," Boston Mayor Michelle Wu's office reports.
"The Embrace is an unprecedented attempt to give shape and prominence to Dr. King’s conception of agape love," the office continued. "It is also intended to reflect Coretta Scott King’s faith in the power of art, and her long life of struggle against militarism, poverty, discrimination, racism, and sexism.
Kim K was reportedly in town to speak with students at Harvard University, according to NBC10 Boston's Eli Rosenberg who tweeted a video of the socialite leaving the campus.
It appears that "The Embrace" was not the sole reason Kim K was in town, but hopefully she – and her 341 million followers – enjoyed the change in the typical Boston scenery.
