Chris Michaels, of Salisbury, is in "rough shape" after going through a head-on collision on I-110 on Sunday, May 28, according to his Facebook and a GoFundMe created to aid in his recovery.

One of Michael's "besties," Deb Andrews, has helped raise over $5,000 in only three days via a GoFundMe designed to help cover his rehabilitation expenses.

Michaels, who already suffers from severe chronic pain, called himself a "hurting unit" in a Facebook post but said he was thankful to be alive.

"Someone literally crossed the yellow line into oncoming traffic," the GoFundMe said. "The guy sped towards him - with nowhere for him to go, he jumped and landed upside down in the passenger's seat."

Supporters and donors have praised his talent during his time of recovery.

"Absolutely devastated for this man who is quite a talented icon in Salisbury / North Shore," said one Facebook user who shared his GoFundMe.

"All people involved in music give way more than they get back," wrote one donor.

"Chris is a good man," wrote another donor. "He is an aspiring DJ and musician and brings us all a lot of fun at L Street Tavern where he actually got me a job there. Godspeed to a full recovery man."
