The owners of Green Papaya in Waltham have decided "to retire and have new adventures" after "30 wonderful, successful years," they wrote on the restaurant's website

"We are so appreciative and thankful for the friendships we have made and for all who have supported us during these years and through the difficult times of the covid virus," the message reads. "We are thankful for being able to get to know each of you and your families, and also for the care and kindness you have shown each and everyone of us. We do hope that we will continue to cross paths in the days and years that lie ahead."

Green Papaya has received high praise from local and visitors alike, according to Yelp, many of whom have been frequenting the restaurant almost as long as it has been around.

"I've been going there for over 20 years and I just love the food," one person said. "My entire family meets there. It is one of the finest restaurants in the Massachusetts area."

"We are visiting from LA and needed a Thai food fix. Green Papaya did not disappoint," another reviewer said. "All of the dishes we ordered were delicious. We especially recommend the satays, the crab Rangoon, the pad Thai, and Thai bbq chicken. In addition, the service was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was very clean and welcoming. We look forward to dining here again."

Green Papaya's last day will be Sunday, June 25.
