In Hampden County, a Massachusetts State Police trooper in the town of Russell on patrol at approximately 6 p.m. on Route 90 on Sunday, May 8 conducted an Electronic Vehicle Registration check on a black Jaguar, which found that the SUV had been stolen two days earlier.

Police said that the trooper began to follow the Jaguar and requested assistance before attempting a high-risk felony traffic stop.

According to police, during the subsequent stop, the driver, Berkshire County resident Brendan Remillard, age 34, of Pittsfield, was ordered out of the vehicle and taken into custody without incident.

While searching Remillard, police said that troopers uncovered a loaded .40 caliber Glock pistol, an additional 10 rounds of ammunition, and a small baggie of what is believed to be cocaine.

Investigators noted that Remillard is not licensed to possess firearms.

Remillard was charged with:

  • Receiving stolen motor vehicle;
  • Illegal possession of a firearm;
  • Possession of a large-capacity feeding device;
  • Carrying a loaded firearm;
  • Possession of ammunition without an FID card;
  • Possession of a Class B drug.

Bail for Remillard was set at $10,000. He was transported to the Hampden County House of Correction to await arraignment at Westfield District Court on the charges.
